Dear Sir,
The Lord Mayor of London has talked over with me the
contents of your letter, sent through his Private Secretary,
and the cable from Hong Kong has been discussed by the
Executive at a meeting yesterday. May I ask you kindly to
convey by cable the following reply to His Excellency,
Sir Stafford Northcote.
"To the Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Stafford Northcote.
In reply to your cable the Lord Mayor's China Relief Fund has now become The British Fund for the Relief of Distress in China initiated by the Lord Mayor of London Stop. Secretary Executive and all home administration remain same.Stop.London Executive heartily approves of proposals for local associated fund provided concurrence is obtained of Central Administrative Executive Committee Shanghai.
